Mariah Carey. Katy Perry. Britney Spears. Lady Gaga. Rihanna. Taylor Swift. Lorde. Ariana Grande. Beyonce. Those are just a few of the women who decided to follow their dreams of becoming a pop star and of course, they were very successful. But what about you? Have you ever thought about becoming a pop star? At a glance, it seems like it would be the perfect life. It looks exciting, fulfilling and glamorous. But things are not always as they seem. Everything has a dark side.So when you think about being a pop star, it's important to analyze the pros and cons. Here are a few of each, and if you have any more to add, please feel free to comment. Let's start off with the pros!
Fans
Wouldn't it be nice to have millions of people who adore you and your music? People who love you just for being you. People who look up to you. People who live for you. Everybody likes attention. It's just human nature. So of course, having fans would be awesome.
Money
Of course, money is one of the main reasons people choose to become pop stars. It's not just about being rich. It's about never having to worry about bills again. Financial freedom, being able to take care of you and yours, with no problems.
For the love of music
If you love to sing, write lyrics, or play instruments, of course you would consider being a pop star. Being a pop star gives you the opportunity to do what you love, and make millions of dollars for it!
Traveling
Going on tour means not only do you get to travel the world, but you are getting paid for it and you've got thousands of people who are stoked that you are coming to their hometown!
Fame
Imagine being on the cover of magazines, being paid to make TV appearances. Imagine very where you go, people are excited to see you. What a rush.
Glamorous lifestyle
As a famous person, you will spend lot of time with big shots. That means, you will spend time on yachts, you will go to 5 star restaraunts, you will wear the most high end clothes. Most of the time, these things are not even coming out of your own pocket. It's just the perks of knowing other people in the biz.
Meeting other celebs
Imagine all your hero's, in one place. I'm talking about the VMAs. Imagine partying with all of them. Imagine they all know who you are. Imagine Katy Perry telling you she loves your music. Imagine Ariana Grande asking you to take a selfie with her. Those things are very possible if you are a pop star.
Cons
No privacy
Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone makes a fool of themselves sometimes. But as "regular people" when we make a mistake, it's usually just people we know who find out. When a pop star makes a mistake, it's news all over the world. When we make a mistake, we give it time, and it fades away. When pop stars make a mistake, it is on record for ever, posted on the Internet, for anyone and everyone to watch or read about.
The chance of being a has been
Imagine having lots of hits, and winning lots of awards and then one day, it's just not happening anymore. Your fans move on to someone younger, perhaps someone better looking, and maybe even more talented. That can be really heartbreaking.
Stalkers
When you are famous, all around the world, and everyone knows who you are, there is a good chance some of those people can be creepy or be stalkers. There's a chance someone might try to harm you in some way. Sure, you have body guards, but there's always the chance some sneaky stalker might have something up his/her sleeve.
Everyone in the world already has an idea of who you are before they even meet you.
You don't have a chance to make a first impression on someone new because they have already seen you on TV. You never get to be the "new girl" when you meet someone. You can't move to another state and start a new life and a new reputation because everyone knows who you are in the new town as well.
Getting burnt out
After years of touring, you will get tired of living out of a suitcase. You will miss your family. You will get sick of practicing, sick of staying up all night, sick of all the fans, and all you will be longing for is to turn off your phone and get 8 hours of solid sleep.
It make make you egotistical or a narcissist
When people are always praising you and telling you how pretty and talented you are, it can get to your head. You might not realize it, but you will slowly start to speak down to people and become a "diva." Some pop stars stay humble, but let's face it, its pretty rare.
Conclusion-
After looking at the pros and cons, I personally have decided not to become a pop star. I decided I would rather be a professional blogger. But what about you? I want to know what you think! Would you be a pop star if you could, or is it not your style? Let me know in the comments!
